Dr. Michael M. O’Connor is a lawyer, independent researcher, and author. He holds First Class Honours Degrees in Law from Trinity College Dublin and Cambridge University, He also has a Doctorate in Philosophy (Law) from Trinity College Dublin. He has practised as a lawyer for almost thirty years in Ireland and internationally, including several years in the Middle East. His research interests include social history, crime & punishment, women & the law, 18th & 19th-century public institutions, and slavery. He is currently researching on a PhD in History at QUB on Irish slaveholders and naming practices in the Caribbean.
