Dr Llewellyn will speak on ‘Captive While Waiting to be Free: Legal Violence and LGBTQ Asylum Applicant Experiences in the United States.’

She will draw on research demonstrating how US asylum policies impact LGBTQ asylum applicants in distinct and traumatic ways. She will discuss how legal procedures serve as regulatory practices predicated on heteronormativity and inflict legal violence on LGBTQ applicants.
