Global Roadmaps to Reproductive Rights
Lisa Smyth was recently invited to participate in an international roundtable at the (Jan 2024, San Francisco), focusing on the case of Ireland in conversation with experts from US, Poland, El Salvador, Argentina and Mexico regarding divergent trends in abortion law.
These discussions brought together experts who study abortion in countries that have restricted abortion and in countries that have legalized or decriminalized it. The panels considered common trends that may explain the divergent trends in reproductive law. Topics discussed included the role of women’s mobilizations, health and feminist arguments, religion, and democratic and autocratic movements.
Lisa has also published commentary on the case of Ireland for the website (Harvard, Arizona State and Wisconsin-Madison). Her commentary on has recently been published by The Saint-Pierre for International Security (Guangzhou,China)
