Recruit °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï International Students

International students make up 15% of the Queen’s student population offering a rich global talent pool for recruiters.

While studying, international students have the right to work in the UK, up to a maximum of 20 hours per week.

These rules change once they graduate, and recruiting organisations need to have an understanding of UK visa regulations to make a decision on the employment of internationals.

Relevant Visas

There are two visas that can be utilised in the employment of an international graduate:

  • Graduate Route Visa - allows international graduates to stay in the UK for up to two years (or three if they have a PhD) to work or look for work. No sponsorship or associated fees are required from the employer.
  • Skilled Worker Visa - enables international workers, that have the necessary skills, to work in the UK for licenced UK employers. These employers act as sponsor for a longer-term work visa which is initially granted for a period of up to five years, (dependent on the duration of the Certificate of Sponsorship). Employers do incur fees attached to Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
