New blog series highlights the case for sustained investment in youth services

A new blog series from the Centre for Children¡¯s Rights brings together young people and academic researchers to highlight the urgent need for sustained investment in youth services in Northern Ireland.

Academics from the Centre for Children’s Rights and Ulster University, working alongside young co-researchers, draw on research evidence to support calls for adequate and sustained funding for youth services.

The series argues that investment in youth provision is not only an ethical and practical necessity, but a fundamental rights-based issue for young people in Northern Ireland.

, written by young contributor Rebecca Deane McCann, reflects on her personal experiences of youth services and the impact they can have on young people’s lives.

, authored by academics Siobhan McAlister and Gail Neill, responds by drawing on findings from a recent research project exploring young people’s experiences of respect and disrespect.

Together, these contributions offer both lived experience and research-informed perspectives, strengthening the case for long-term, meaningful investment in youth services.
