On 10 November 2025, Gavin Davidson co-hosted a workshop focused on how mental health support can move from separate services to a more joined-up and community-focused approach.

The workshop was facilitated by Kadra Abdinasir, Associate Director of Policy, and David Woodhead, Associate Director of Research at the Centre for Mental Health. Participants highlighted strong interest in prevention, early help, and improving connections between hospitals, schools, justice services and community groups.

There was a clear call for shared training, improved data use, long-term funding, and stronger digital tools to support delivery. Carers and smaller VCSE organisations were recognised as vital contributors, though often overlooked within the current system.

Despite challenging financial conditions, the group demonstrated strong engagement and a shared belief that meaningful change is possible. Attendees recommended strengthening prevention, establishing clear early help models, improving coordination of existing provision, enhancing data systems, and securing sustained investment to support a more connected mental health system.
