Continuing Professional Development
The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s is here to help you with developing your career every step of the way. Whether you want to take a postgraduate certificate to improve your specialism, or whether you’re looking for a Masters or programme to help you attain those leadership positions, we can help.
We offer a wide selection of learning options. They are divided up into easy to manage modules and courses, so you can choose which parts you need to do first and tailor your learning to suit your career. Many registered nurses and midwives can access these programmes through their employer – ask your line manager how to get involved.
Planned changes for academic year 2026/27 entry, subject to University approval, will apply to current degree level short courses including the Non-Medical Prescribing programme and a number of degree level stand alone modules only. Entry criteria for Postgraduate Diplomas and MSc programmes will remain unchanged - Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, Specialist Practice and Advanced Practice.
From September 2026, all degree Level 3/6 short courses and some standalone modules previously offered by the School of Nursing and Midwifery will be withdrawn.  There will be new Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate programmes offered alongside several standalone modules. The NMP programme will only run at postgraduate level.
