Fellowship at the Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies

Dr Tristan Sturm, Mitchell Institute Fellow: Religion, Arts and Peacebuilding

Institute Fellow: Religion, Arts and Peacebuilding Dr Tristan Sturm will commence a funded 4-month Fellowship at the Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies at the University of Heidelberg on 1 April 2024 to finish his book, The Future Is a Foreign Country: The Apocalyptic Landscapes of American Christian Zionist Pilgrims In Israel/Palestine.

This book project, is a decade-long ethnographic study of American Christian Zionist pilgrims whose religious (Jewish-Christian) and national (American-Israeli) identities are imagined through an expectation of an apocalyptic future. This is a future that finds expression in landscape pilgrimage sites in Israel and Palestine.

Dr Tristan Sturm

Dr Sturm is Lecturer in the School of Natural and Built Environment at °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï Belfast. His interests include critical geopolitics of religious movements, especially Christian Zionists, apocalyptic thought related to religious fundamentalism and climate change, nationalism and archaeology.
